If the post starts with the character's name, it'll be removed automatically. Example: "Vivea eats a slice of bread" becomes "/em eats a slice of bread"

How are my settings and history saved?
Your settings and history are saved to your local browser using localStorage and are never shared by this web application.

When you export your settings, they are saved to a local file by your browser which you may use later to restore settings. Importing that file again, will store the data back into the localStorage. History is never exported.

What is the purpose of this application?

This application was created to help quickly and easily format posts for use with in-game roleplaying in Final Fantasy XIV. It will handle automatically trimming, splitting, adding a seperator, and applying the appropriate command based on the context of the post. With this, the system can determine if a particular part is speech or action and apply /say or /em respectively.

Do I need to type my post in this app?

No, however, you are free to do so if you wish! You may use an external editor such as Google Docs or Grammarly and then paste the full post (without formatting or spacing required!) within the app then it will automatically process it. (The automatic processing of pasted content can be disabled via settings!)

What does the chatmode do?

When selecting a chatmode, you may tell the app how to handle the command to be used. If you are roleplaying in /say and /em, you should use Automatic as this will determine the correct command to use. However, if you wish to use other chat channels, such as party, you can set the chatmode to party.

What does Auto-Translate do?

Currently, the feature only supports measurements and works by finding words, such as "mile" and replacing it with the nearest in-setting equivalent while formatting.

What does the clipboard feature do?

After you've formatted a post, you can click the clipboard, and the system will copy the first post into your system's clipboard. You may then tab back into the game, CTRL+V, then fire away! If your post has multiple splits, you can click the clipboard again, and it will automatically determine the second message to send, and so on.

What is post and name history?

When enabled and unpaused, history will keep track of recent posts and character names. You can see and restore posts in history, as well as set character in the characters tab by clicking on the name. This is stored locally and it never leaves your browser.

What is Autocomplete and the User Dictionary?

When enabled, autocomplete will suggest words and names to autocomplete when typing. By default, your saved character names and a select handful of City States and in-game regions are included. You can expand the suggested words by adding words or phrases to your User Dictionary!

Shift + O: Toggle the display of the Overlay tool.

Tips and Tricks!

Have a partner with a long name or one that is hard to spell/write accurately?
You can add their name to the User Dictionary! When typing, type the first three letters of their name and it should suggest it, then press space to complete!

Writing Partner

Writing Partner allows you to sync sessions with other writers. For privacy reasons, you will never automatically connect to the Writing Partner service.

In a Writing Partner session, you'll be able to see when your partner is typing and be notified when they have formatted their post!
The contents of your writing is never shared via Writing Partner!

What else can be shared?
Once in a session, there are options to opt-in that will also share post count upon format, and share dice rolls you make within the app.

By creating a session or joining a session you agree to the following Privacy Policy:
1. This Privacy Policy applies to your use of Writing Partner on xivrp.chat or beta.xivrp.chat (the "Service").
2. You implicitly agree to this privacy policy by using the Service, by either creating a session or joining a session.
3. Through your use of the Service, we may collect and use—
1. Information which you explicitly provide to us (Example: Your provided nickname for the session).
2. Information obtained through your interactions with the Service. (Example: The number of posts when formatting, when enabled.)
4. The information we collect under Clause 3 (the "Data") is used to provide the functionality of the Service.
5. By use of the Service, some Data may be shared with Third Parties where it is necessary for the operation of the Service or where required by law.

Known Issues
⚠️ In some rare instances, Writing Partner will fire a disconnect event without prompt. This will require more data to solve.
⚠️ When changing name, the list only updates for other writers in your session. Your local list will not update correctly.
